We assist the territories of Managua, Masaya, Granada, Rivas, Esteli, Nueva Segovia, Jinotega, Chinandega, and the Atlantic Coast.
The objective of CANTERA´s Natural Medicine network is to promote theoretical and practical capacities of community members to strengthen community actions in order to improve holistic health of domestic sectors.
We work with people who live in marginalized neighborhoods and settlements with high unemployment, disintegrated families, domestic violence, and generalized violence in their surroundings. Public services (such as electricity and water) and social services are few and very ill-equipped, especially in regards to transportation, waste management, and environmental up-keep.
Through consultation, we help all people (men, women, youth, boys and girls, as well as those of advanced age and/or with chronic illness). We hold training workshops for: health promoters, brigade members, individuals interested in their personal health, psychologists from the Nicaraguan Health Department, groups, communities, young boys and girls, women, cancer survivors, students from elementary to university; all with the purpose of increasing access to practitioners of natural medicine. Discussions, workshops, and home visits promote preventative care and the health of the community, empowering people to take charge of their own health. Specialist promoters/therapists teach our workshops regarding alternative therapies such as massage, reflection therapy, auricular therapy, digital puncture, acupuncture, magnet therapy, bio-health, reiki/touch therapy, and talaso therapy.
